2005 polaris sportsman starter not engaging.the bendix turned out to be the culprit.lmao blooper real for calling it a spandex. So i've got a '05 500 sportsman, and since the temps have started cooling off, the electric starter won't work.

Polaris sportsman 500 starter not engaging. The bendix on the starter isn't kicking out and engaging the flywheel. I believe it is the clutch system that engages the motor. I hear the starter turning, but it is not engaging the engine.
I took the starter off but i'm not sure that its in the starter. It sounds like it spins freely, but doesn't engage the flywheel. I ordered a new one and put it on , it is still doing the same thing.

Polaris sportsman 500 starter not engaging. Sounds like you have wires incorrectly connected at the starter if it's automatically getting power to engage. Polaris sportsman 500 starter bendix.

So i've got a '05 500 sportsman, and since the temps have started cooling off, the electric starter won't work. Check that the pinion of the starter is engaging the flywheel teeth. Flywheel has all its teeth and so did the old starter motor.

I have an 02 sportsman 500 ho. Polaris sportsman 500 starter not engaging. Do not thread puller bolts (metric) over 1/4 inch ( apprx ) into flywheel, or stator damage could occur.
