It you touched them to a ground while the battery was connected, you blew the alternator fuse. Try changing the fuel filter and look for any disconnected or cracked vacuum lines. A whirring sound can be heard coming from the engine when the fuel pump is working correctly.

The battery light and abs light come on and then if i hit the brake or turn the radio or lights on, the car shuts off. Before, i would need a jump every time then eventually it just would not start. If these three elements are available in the correct ratio, then the car will run smoothly and will not stop.

I would look at an electronic reason as to why the car is stopping. If one of the three elements fails to decrease or increases slightly, the ratio changes and the car will not have a smooth running. Do this quick test… unhook the hot lead from the alternator and then hook up your charged battery.
Clean all connections in the starter system, positive and ground. The 3 core elements for the car to start and run are fuel, spark, and air. If the car won't crank and the battery is good then i'd start by looking at the terminals.
The second problem could be that your alternator is bad and not charging your battery, in this case you will need to replace your alternator. Had 2 alternators and a battery checked. Vehicle sat for close to two months not running, battery completely died.
