Engine Dies While Driving But Starts Back Up
I replaced the fuel filter and cps and today i drove it to work and back for the first time since replacing those 2 thingd and thought. There is no check engine light on btw.
My car be cutting off on the middle of me driving it but i can always cut it back on.
Engine dies while driving but starts back up. This is quite a common issue. We replaced the motor with a used one with 65k miles. It will not just stop working for an extended period of time.
Some kind of air / exhaust sensor Alternator never replaced, have had car since 2005. I had a 94 dodge dakota that did the same thing and that was at fault.
Haven't cleaned battery the terminals in 1.5 yrs. Then after awhile with the car running fine it will act up and then the lights will turn off. It also can die while stationary at traffic lights etc, it will usually start back up but again today it just turned over and over and over and didn't start for about 30 seconds.
As you drive the electrical components heat up and fail by not allowing electrical current to pass through a particular sensor, connection, computer or control module (this will be the same for electric cars as well). It may be hard to find, especially if it starts right back up. No codes come up while its on the computer.
So i got some new spark plugs or a tune up and it stopped doing it for a while but now it’s cutting of again. Engine shuts down for no reason while dr ip: The starter is fine and battery.
She pulls to the side of the road and it starts right back up. Battery is 4 yrs old. You made no mention of whether it is hard to restart or not once it shuts off.
Now the car will stall and shut off and nothing will work or it will turn off while driving and then start back up. Lights, radio and heat didn't cut off, just the engine. All battery connections are tight.

When it does die the battery light turns on and the engine/power ceases. Pressure needs to be at least 55 psi. Ignition system problems can suddenly cut off electrical flow to engine electrical circuits.
The pump works, i can hear it power up, and if the truck stalls, it starts right back up. She described it as though the engine just shut off. For example, your engine needs the ignition system to create a spark to start the combustion process.

Bo, if it is usually starts right back up after it shuts off i would say it is the throttle position sensor. We pick it up from the shop and the next day the car dies on her while doing to work. If it does not start immediatly, and i dont drain the battery, it will start in an hour or less.

1997 diesel dies while driving then starts right back up. I have a 95 379 with a 3406 e cat. The light comes on when the computer finds a problem and will then store it in its memory.
My first thought was the tps, but after a few minutes of cranking the battery is dead, which leads me to think its something with the alternator. If your battery dies while it’s driving, it wouldn’t be able to feed electricity to a variety of important components, leading to your car shutting off while driving. One indication that it might be the ignition switch is if your car ever fails or hesitates to activate the starter when you turn the key to start the engine.

It maybe does it once a week, but now after my 1.5 hour drive back to school this morning it was worse. The heat/radio still constantly shuts off and now thw warning light and abs light will come on and stay on. If your car turns off while driving but then turns back on suddenly, it can often be due to a bad fuel pump.
Fuel pump is 4 yrs old. It cranks fine, the engine does roar up, but it immediately dies again (rpms fall to 0). Have the codes checked for what the computer has found to be at fault and with a little diagnostics, should lead you to the problem.

After 100k miles/10+ years, my car would randomly die while driving and after replacing the ignition switch, the problem never returned.
When it runs it runs fine. It has done this while i'm driving down the road, when i'm just sitting at a red light braked, and when i'm parked in a parking lot. The truck ran fine on friday, come inmonday to crank it up and it dies after about 3 minutes.
If pushing the accelerator does not prevent the engine from stalling, there is a problem with fuel delivery. Now it wont start at all. When a vehicle stalls while driving it can be similar to an engine that does not start in the morning or after the vehicle has been sitting for a while.
Not only does this put you back in danger, but next time you might not have a safe place to pull over. The car starts up no problem when i turn the ignition back on and it has been dying more often weekly.
